  1. At the Simley competition on January 14th, Holy Family got third and Austin got fourth in AA Varsity Jazz.

  2. I made a mistake in Simley results, should be fixed now. Honestly, I was so caught up in the really ummm....rough....way things were announced at the meet that I couldn't stop thinking about the way the announced the tie and forgot who was before that! Even with a form to tell announcers EXACTLY how to announce ties and places, sometimes that doesn't get followed -- and its not always done in a positive, tasteful way. I was a bit unprepared. There is also a correction to Marshall results -there was a tab room error in JV results.

  3. Wow... kind of surprised by the Blaine results. The kick results seem to be the right order, but it sure is a shake up of what we usually see. The jazz results really surprised me. Hopkins 5th? I was not there so I don't know how it looked, but I have seen them perform the dance before and I was pretty sure they would be taking the third place spot at 2AAA sections. Anyone know how Maple Grove's jazz looked like?

    1. Worst judging ever......the dx judges had no clue.

  4. Brainerd performed their new GLAM routine and costumes. Really nice routine and will be much better when cleaned up. The point spread between Tech and Brainerd was only 8 or 9 I believe in kick.

  5. Brainerd has a new dance? I thought they were keeping their "Girls" dance, but just changed their costume.

  6. Hopkins in fifth just doesnt seem right. I wasnt there to say how well they did, but I feel like they should be in the top 3.

    1. I heard from several dance parents at the meet that Andover looked very good and didn't place?? Anyone else have thoughts??

    2. They placed 7th in Jazz, one spot out of the placements. There were more than 18 teams for AAA, a big category.

    3. Thanks for the information. Saw their jazz and it looked good

  8. I keep hearing rumors that Maple Grove is changing their jazz routine. Any one know if this is true?

    1. They did. Heaven is a place on Earth is their new song. Same costumes.

  9. Yes, they did change their jazz routine. The song they are doing, unless they have some revamped version, is basically the same style as "Time Of My Life". They easily have the best technique in the state, but pairing it with some outdated 80s song will not win them a state championship. I have personally not seen the routine, so it could be amazing, but seeing as they got a rank of 4.5 at Blaine (meaning they must of received a tie rank for first and two 2nd place ranks, one dropped and on not) I feel like this new routine still may not be enough to catch up to Wayzata...

  10. Hi Erin. I know this does not relate to anything on your site, but I hope you see this. I do not know if you are familiar with the YouTube account "Chanelist" (it is the one that post the state videos dating back to 2005 up to now) but that account has for some reason been disbanded. Not entirely though. All it says on the account is that they will not be taking request and will be taking down all of their videos. I'm wondering if by the littlest of chances you will know why this is? Does it have to do something with MSHSL or MADT? I am just so confused and sadden because that account carried so much dance team history with it. There are still some videos up of the most popular routines (The Eastviews and the Maple Groves) but besides that... the rest of the videos are just gone...

    1. I noticed that as well (videos being pulled off) with at least two accounts- one account posted great videos from the early 90's. I can only guess that maybe it had to do with the comments. Having nothing to do personally with HS dance team (not a coach, dancer, parent, judge etc...) even I found some of the comments posted about the videos very offensive. Now I've noticed that many are posting the videos and disabling the comments- which is unfortunate that we have to censer the positive comments/feedback, because a few like to "stir-up" drama, or leave hurtful words. Just my two-cents...I could be totally off :)

  11. Sorry guys I don't know much about that situation. It's a sticky subject when it comes to copyright, privacy of minors, posting teams you are not competing against violates mshsl rules, and it's a hard job to maintain all of that for free. ( I would know something about that) I can try to look into it once I return from sunny Mexico where I am on vacation. It is nice to have old videos at the ready like that, but I absolutely agree that comments should be moderated or just not allowed on videos. They just can't seem to stay respectful. I'm proud to say that here we've had good discussions that I have never had to take down anything ( yet) so let's keep that going!

  15. Woah, look at those kick results! Brainerd topped EP and Tech!? Blaine finally cracked the top 5 and Valley's been knocked down to sixth? AAA is finally turning into AA where you never know where teams will finish! State is gonna be real interesting. Plus there is still Eastview and Burnsville. Throw them into the mix and that will make for one crazy state tournament.

  16. Tech did have a fall, but I don't know if that affected the results, I didn't see EP...but looking at the ranks, it was tight! 4AAA is especially going to be interesting!!
