Check out this great poem and photo submitted by Hutchinson senior dancer, Sammy Jo Robbins, who was willing to let me share this with the dance community. Congrats to a "new" state team!
Sections- Senior Year
Millions of thoughts run though your head,
Like you have three minutes to show
How hard you’ve been training for days,
Months, seasons, even years.
Finally, the music starts
Kick after kick
Arm after arm, finally
The last pose. You made it.
Now you stand on the floor
Just one last time, to hear your name called.
You get butterflies like a first love.
At last, your name is called,
You cry, scream and jump for joy!
You have waited four years for this dream,
But before it runs, just remember it was all you.

At the Chaska invite I was sitting next to some Hutchinson parents. They were so nice and so proud of their dancers. They must not of danced the greatest that week before at a basketball game because after they danced at Chaska they were all so proud of how hard they worked that week and at how much they had improved. It was fun to sit with parents that were so excited and proud!! Congratulations Hutchinson, I love seeing new teams at state!!
ReplyDeleteas one of those hutch parents, thank you so much for the kind words, i have always tried to clap for other teams and give credit where credit is due. all of these girls work so hard to get to where they are.
Deleteanother note - Erin can you fix the poem so the lines are how sammy wrote it please. you are missing a few breaks there. this poem, coach read to the girls at practice on thursday before sections and not a dry eye in the place.
Thanks so much for sharing! On our team we call this week..."Family Week" because we work more on team work than anything else. Insirational letters, songs and games to make these final two weeks the best of the season! We have prepared for 4 months physically, now its time to prepare mentally! Best of luck to all the teams!

ReplyDeletewow. tears. I am so happy for Hutchinson and Hopkins. I wish ALL teams and dancers could experience the Target Center floor at least once in their HS career! Our daughter is a senior this year and her team has already qualified for state, this will be our 4th trip and am going to miss it.
